RSJ Steel Beams
In addition to our wide range of hollow sections, plates and columns, we are also leading suppliers of RSJ Steel Beams. The RSJ is a different creature from the hollow section in that it is created according to the physics of ‘beam theory’.
The RSJ, or ‘rolled steel joist’ is an example of something called an ‘I-beam’. This refers to the shape of the RSJ, which makes it particularly efficient at carrying loads in specific positions, technically described as ‘bending’ and ‘shear’ loads
Beams have been used for hundreds of years for building both small and large structures. In the past they have been made of wood, stone or concrete, and the principle of using beams has not changed. However the modern RSJ is the strongest and most effective form yet devised and as such is a vitally important component in construction.
